Two Freshmen Honored

STANFORD, Calif. – Pitchers Brendan Beck and Jacob Palisch were named freshman All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association, as announced Monday.

Beck was named to the first team with Palisch earning a berth on the second team. It is the second freshman All-America honor for the duo after being named to Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's All-Freshman team last week.

Beck, a right-handed pitcher native to Corona, California, went 8-0 in 17 appearances, including 12 starts. In 66.2 innings, he carried a 2.43 ERA while holding opposing batters to a .225 average and issuing just 12 walks. Beck carried a perfect game into the sixth inning of an 11-1 win at Texas on March 11.

Palisch, who hails from Richardson, Texas, went 3-1 with a 1.72 ERA in 26 relief appearances. The left hander allowed 45 base runners (33 hits, 12 walks) in 47.0 innings, holding opponents to a .198 batting average and adding four saves.
