STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomore right-handed pitcher Jack Little has been selected to compete for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team this summer, as announced Thursday.
Team USA will compete in three international friendship series, starting June 28 - July 2 against Chinese Taipei in North Carolina. The team will then announce a final 24-man roster to compete in the 42nd USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star series from July 3-9 in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as the seventh annual USA vs. Cuba International Friendship Series in Cuba from July 13-18.
Little's 16 saves ties for third in the NCAA and leads the Pac-12, tying Colton Hock (2017) for the single-season program record. In 45.1 innings across 25 relief appearances, Little (3-0) accrued an 0.60 earned-run average and a .167 opposing batting average. Surrendering just 38 base runners, he struck out 58 while issuing eight walks.
Ten of Little's saves were 1.2 innings or more, and five were 3.0 or more. He earned the win and struck out the final four batters in Stanford's dramatic, 6-5 win at Washington on May 26, which clinched the Cardinal's first Pac-12 conference championship since 2004.
Stanford ranks second in Division I in ERA (2.83) and third in WHIP (1.14). The Cardinal's 23 saves tied a program record, with its .793 winning percentage ranking second, all-time.
