Four Called to Camp

STANFORD, Calif. – Naomi Girma, Sam Hiatt, Kiki Pickett and Sophia Smith were named to the United States U-20 national team, as announced Wednesday by head coach Jitka Klimkova.

The 24-player camp will be from June 25-July 12 in Portland, Oregon, and includes two games against the Brazil U-20 national team as well as Portland Thorns F.C. It is the final training camp before Klimkova picks a 21-player roster for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup on August 5-24 in France.

Smith, a freshman from Windsor, Colorado, has 11 goals in 2018 and 19 in her U-20 career. She is tied with Mallory Pugh for fourth-most U.S. U-20 goals of all time behind Sydney Leroux (29), Kelley O'hara (24) and Lindsey Horan (24), having scored in her last seven international appearances.

Hiatt, a defender from Newcastle, Washington, appeared in nine matches for the Cardinal in 2017, missing several games through injury. Hiatt transferred to The Farm after playing her freshman season at Boston College.

Girma, a defender from San Jose, California, has been a fixture in the United States U-20 team, appearing in the U-20 CONCACAF Championship alongside Smith.

Pickett, also a mainstay in the U-20 setup native to Santa Barbara, California, started 24-of-25 games at right back as a freshman in 2017, earning Pac-12 All-Freshman honors.
