Six to U23 Worlds

PRINCETON, N.J. – Six Cardinal were named to the Under 23 national teams ahead of the U23 World Rowing Championships. Kaitlyn Kynast, Alie Rusher, Chase Shepley and Leigh Warner will race for the U23 USRowing team, Stephanie Grauer will represent Canada, and Meg Saunders will row for Great Britain.
 
The 2018 World Rowing Under 23 Championships will take place July 25-29 on Lake Malta in Poznan, Poland.
 
Both Rusher and Warner competed for the United States in the 2017 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Leigh Warner, the coxswain for the U.S. eight, captured silver in the A Final. Grauer, the six-seat in the Canada eight, captured the gold medal by open water in the A Final. Meg Saunders also competed for her country in last year's event and stroked the Great Britain entry to a sixth-place finish in the A Final.
 
Chase Shepley will row in the U.S. four, while Leigh Warner, Alie Rusher and Kaitlyn Kynast will all compete in the U.S. eight boat in Poznan. Stephanie Grauer, representing Canada, will take the five-seat in the eight. Meg Saunders will occupy the six-seat in the Great Britain eight.
 
All six of Stanford's U23 Worlds representatives were members of the Cardinal varsity eight, which placed fourth in the NCAA Championships Grand Final in May, helping the Cardinal earn a fourth-place, podium finish as a team. The boat also captured the silver medal at the Pac-12 Championships this season.
