Badgers in Bahamas

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford will face Wisconsin on Nov. 21 in Paradise Island, The Bahamas, in its opening game of the Bad Boy Mowers Battle 4 Atlantis, as the bracket for the Thanksgiving week tournament has been revealed.

The Cardinal-Badgers matchup is set for 11:30 a.m. PT at Atlantis' Imperial Arena on Paradise Island and will air on either ESPN or ESPN2. Wisconsin returns the majority of its roster from a team that posted a 15-18 record last season.

Along with Stanford and Wisconsin, the eight-team field includes Butler, Dayton, Florida, Oklahoma, Middle Tennessee State and Virginia. The impressive 2018 field has a combined 21 Final Four appearances and four national championships.

Depending on the results of Stanford's tournament-opening matchup with Wisconsin, the Cardinal will face either Florida or Oklahoma in its second game (Nov. 22).

Stanford is 6-3 all-time in nine previous meetings with Wisconsin. The Cardinal and Badgers last met on Dec. 27, 1994, with Stanford earning a 95-78 victory on The Farm. The game this November will be the second neutral-site matchup between the two programs. On Dec. 29, 1975, Stanford and Wisconsin met in the Milwaukee Classic in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Stanford is making its second appearance in the Battle 4 Atlantis. The Cardinal was part of the 2012 field, placing sixth in the tournament with losses to Missouri and Minnesota and a victory over Northern Iowa.

The Cardinal, in its third season under Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men's Basketball, Jerod Haase, returns two starters from a team that posted its best Pac-12 finish (third) and most conference victories (11) in a decade last year. The Cardinal won 19 games overall and earned a postseason berth for the first time in three years last season.
