STANFORD, Calif. – No. 1 Stanford cruised to a 4-0 exhibition win over Fresno State on Friday night at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.

"The team has been working extremely hard in training and it showed tonight," said Knowles Family Director of Women's Soccer Paul Ratcliffe. "We need to clean up our sharpness and finishing in the final third, but this is a competitive roster from top to bottom and I was overall pleased with tonight's performance against a very organized Fresno State team."

Catarina Macario, Sam Tran, Michelle Xiao and Jordan DiBiasi each scored for the Cardinal, which outshot the Bulldogs, 27-0. Led by center backs Alana Cook and Tierna Davidson, Stanford did not surrender a shot on Lauren Rood's goal. Beattie Goad and Jaye Boissiere finished with one assist apiece, with the former setting up Macario's opener.

Macario collected the ball from Goad, firing a left-footed shot inside the far post to make it 1-0 ahead of the first break – the game was played in three 30-minute periods. In the 56th minute, Tran doubled the Cardinal's lead after nodding home Boissiere's inch-perfect corner kick.

Xiao and DiBiasi scored in consecutive minutes during the final 30-minute period to make it 4-0 inside of 70 minutes – both goals were low finishes from inside the box. Goad led the Cardinal with four shots, with Macario, DiBiasi and Xiao each being credited with three. Freshmen Sierra Enge and Abby Greubel each made their unofficial Stanford debuts, each checking in during the second 30-minute period.

Top-ranked Stanford opens the regular season on Aug. 17 when it travels to face UC Davis, followed by the home opener against San Francisco on Aug. 24. Season and single-game tickets are available at GoStanford.com.
