Round One in the Books

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. – Freshman Daulet Tulebayev shot a 1-over-par 71 on Friday to pace No. 11 Stanford in the first round of the season-opening OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club.
 
The Cardinal combined for a best four-out-of-five total of 9-over 289 and is 10th in the 14-team, 54-hole tournament.  
 
Cal and Oklahoma State share the lead with a score of 7-under 273.

Matthew Wolff of Oklahoma State fired a 5-under 65 to earn the individual top-spot.
 
Tulebayev had one birdie and two bogeys and is tied for 21st. Senior Brandon Wu posted a 72 and is tied for 28th, while senior Isaiah Salinda and freshman Freddie Lee added 73s for a share of 31st. Sophomore Nate Menon (75) is tied for 58th.
 
Competing as an individual, sophomore Ashwin Arasu (79) is tied for 70th.
 
The second round will be played Saturday. Stanford starts on the 10th hole at 8:30 a.m. CT and is paired with Baylor and Florida State.
