Grauer Earns Silver

PLOVIDV, Bulgaria – Stanford senior Stephanie Grauer continued her decorated summer of international competition by earning silver in the women's 8+ as a member of Team Canada at the World Rowing Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
 
Grauer, who recently captured gold with Team Canada at the U23 World Championships in July, raced in the two seat in Sunday's Final. Canada's time of 06:03.050 eanred the crew silver, finishing second to the United States, who clocked a time of 06:00.970.
 
With Grauer's performance on Sunday, seven members of the Stanford women's rowing program have combined to earn eight medals in international competition this summer.
 
The podium for the U23 World Championship's women's eight A Final was well-represented by Stanford as Stephanie Grauer helped guide Canada to a gold medal and Kaitlyn Kynast, Alie Rusher and Leigh Warner led the United States to a bronze finish in the July competition.
 
Three incoming freshmen, Azja Czajowski, Kelsey McGinley and Caroline Ricksen, also picked up medals this summer competing for the U.S. in the Junior World Championships in Racice, Czech Republic. Czajowski brought home the silver as part of Team U.S.A.'s women's 8+. McGinley captured the gold in the women's 4-, while Ricksen picked up a bronze medal  in the women's 4+.
