STANFORD, Calif. - An even-par second round left the Stanford women's golf team in third place through 36 holes Saturday at the Stanford Intercollegiate hosted by Dr. Condoleezza Rice.
 
Paced by Albane Valenzuela's 2-under 69, which included four birdies, the Cardinal (E) trails only Northwestern (-1) and USC (-10) heading into Sunday's final round at Stanford Golf Course. The 17-team field will start action with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
 
The even-par round was the second in as many days for Stanford. Northwestern leaped the Cardinal in the team standings with a 5-under 279, with fourth-place Washington jumping seven spots with the best round of the day at 9-under.
 
Valenzuela (67-69), second in the medalist race, is three shots behind UCLA's Mariel Galdiano, who followed her opening-round 71 with a blistering 9-under 62.
 
Mika Liu (t-13th) contributed a 1-over 72, and Calista Reyes rose to 19th with a 1-under 70. Emily Wang (t-27th) matched Reyes' output.
 
Aline Krauter (t-50th) was 2-over, and Madie Chou (t-60th) was 3-over on the day.
