CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Stanford lightweight rowing began the 2018-19 campaign with a gold finish in the Women's Lightweight Eights competition Sunday afternoon at the Head of the Charles regatta.

The Cardinal turned in an open-water victory, outpacing second-place Princeton by 14 seconds with a time of 18:05.122. Princeton and Boston rounded out the top three spots in the regatta.

"Both boats had very gutsy races," said head coach Kate Bertko. "We are excited to work hard and keep improving."
