Scoresheet Opens in a new window

STANFORD, Calif. – Sophomores Ben Hallock and Tyler Abramson scored five goals apiece to guide No. 2 Stanford men's water polo to a 15-7 victory over No. 7 Pacific Sunday afternoon at Avery Aquatic Center.

Senior Blake Parrish, junior Bennett Williams, and freshmen AJ Rossman, Jackson Seybold and Quinn Woodhead contributed single scores in the win, which improved the Cardinal to 15-1 on the season. It's Stanford's seventh victory over a top-10 opponent this year and second over the Tigers (9-8) in an eight-day span.

Abramson skipped a shot into the cage for the score 40 seconds into the contest and Hallock punched home a goal from two meters out a minute later to give Stanford an early 2-0 lead.

Williams and Seybold scored in the final 1:12 of the period as the Cardinal built a 4-1 advantage after one quarter of play.

Pacific got back within two scores on a Bogdan Djerkovic score early in the second, but Stanford quickly responded with a Hallock power-play goal 17 seconds later.

The Cardinal lead ballooned from there. Rossman scored moments later, and Abramson spun free of his defender to rattle the cage just past the midpoint of the period. Hallock then took a feed from Williams and fired it past the goalie for a first-half hat trick to give Stanford an 8-3 advantage at the break.

Abramson added a pair of power-play goals in the third as Stanford stretched its advantage to 10-4.

In the fourth, Hallock followed a Parrish goal with back-to-back scores, lobbing the ball over the goalie both times. Abramson later tacked on his fifth goal with 3:04 to play and Woodhead gave Stanford its final score of the afternoon with 40 seconds left.

Senior goalie Oliver Lewis posted another double-digit save performance for the Cardinal, finishing with 10 stops in the contest. His counterpart, John Hughes, recorded nine saves.

Stanford continues its 11-match homestand next Saturday as the Cardinal hosts No. 9 UC Davis at noon.
