Card Wins Defensive Battle

LOS ANGELES – Kathryn Plummer had a match-high 16 kills, while three Cardinal recorded double-digit digs in No. 2 Stanford women's volleyball's 3-0 win over No. 20 UCLA, Sunday, at Pauley Pavilion.
 
Stanford improved to 20-1 overall, registering its 18th straight 20-win season and the 38th in program history. The Cardinal is now 12-0 in the Pac-12 with eight matches left in conference play.
 
Junior libero Morgan Hentz held down the Stanford defense with a team-best 17 digs. Outside hitters Plummer and Meghan McClure each added 13 digs. As a team, Stanford out dug UCLA, which leads the Pac-12 in digs per set, 62-57.
 
Plummer notched her sixth double-double of the season. She also had two aces and two blocks. McClure and opposite Audriana Fitzmorris each had eight kills.
 


For the match, Stanford hit .242 and posted 10.0 team blocks. The Cardinal held the Bruins to a .132 attack percentage.
 
Junior setter Jenna Gray finished with 37 assists, six digs and five blocks. Middle blockers Tami Alade and Holly Campbell each had seven kills and hit over .300. Alade had a match-high seven blocks, while Campbell had two.
 


Sophomore Mac May led UCLA with 15 kills and 10 digs, while libero Zana Muno had a match-high 27 digs.
 
Stanford returns to The Farm next week to begin a four-match homestand on Friday against Colorado.
