Sunday Sweep

BOULDER, Colo. – Junior Kathryn Plummer racked up 23 kills in just three sets as No. 2 Stanford defeated Colorado, 27-25, 25-23, 25-22, Sunday at the CU Events Center.
 
Plummer, who had 10 kills in the opening set, hit .400 for the match and finished with five digs. Sophomore outside hitter Meghan McClure added 11 kills on .360 hitting and 11 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.
 
Stanford (14-1, 6-0 Pac-12) hit .384, while Colorado (10-7, 2-4 Pac-12) turned in a .358 clip. The Cardinal held a 6.5 to 5.0 advantage in blocks and had 50 digs to the Buffaloes 44.
 
Junior Jenna Gray controlled the offense, posting 47 assists. The setter also collected seven digs, two aces and led the team with four blocks. Junior libero Morgan Hentz had a match-high 15 digs and four assists.
 


Both offenses were rolling in the first set as the Cardinal and Buffaloes both registered 21 kills and hit over .400. Stanford followed up with a .526 attack percentage in the second set with 20 kills on 38 errorless swings.
 
Senior middle blocker Tami Alade hit a season-high .692 with 10 kills and three blocks. Junior opposite Audriana Fitzmorris added nine kills on .316 hitting and three digs, while freshman Holly Campbell finished with five kills and three blocks.
 
In total, there were 35 tie scores and 13 lead changes in Sunday's match. The Cardinal has won five in a row over Colorado and is 19-1 in the all-time series.
 
Defensive specialist Sidney Wilson had a career-high four digs and tallied two aces. Sophomore Kate Formico added five digs, two assists and an ace.
 


Colorado was led by Justine Spann's 18 kills on .395 hitting, while outside hitter Alexa Smith finished with 17 kills and 12 digs.
 
Stanford returns to The Farm next week to play host to No. 22 Washington State on Friday and No. 15 Washington on Saturday. Both matches will be televised on Pac-12 Networks.
