STANFORD, Calif. – Selected by CoSIDA, senior Tami Alade and sophomore Meghan McClure were named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District® VIII First Team, while sophomore Sidney Wilson was a second-team selection.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically, maintain a 3.30 cumulative GPA or higher, and have appeared in at least 50 percent of the team's competition.
Alade is a human biology major with a 3.56 GPA. A Senior CLASS Award top-10 finalist, she leads the nation in blocks per set (1.75) and paces the Pac-12 in conference matches with a .386 attack percentage. A 2017 AVCA All-America honorable mention honoree, Alade was a Pac-12 All-Academic honorable mention pick as a junior.
McClure carries a 4.00 cumulative GPA and has appeared in all 86 sets for the Cardinal this season as one of two starting outside hitters. She is second on the team in digs per set (2.34) and third with 2.74 kills per set. The Rancho Santa Margarita, California, native was a member of the All-Pac-12 freshman team and a VolleyballMag.com All-America honorable mention honoree a year ago.
Wilson holds a 3.91 cumulative GPA and has played in all 25 matches for the Cardinal this season. The defensive specialist is eighth in the Pac-12 in conference matches with 0.30 aces per set. The Toronto native is third on the team with 19 aces on the year.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third team Academic All-America® honorees for women's volleyball will be announced in early December.
No. 2 Stanford continues Pac-12 play this week at No. 18 Washington State on Friday at 7 p.m. in Pullman and at No. 20 Washington on Sunday at 1 p.m. in Seattle.
