NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. - Stanford sailing capped one of the program's most successful Fall seasons with a third-place finish at the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Match Race National Championship over the weekend.

Stanford was led by sophomore skipper Jack Parkin, and sophomore crew Victoria Thompson, freshman crew Wiley Rogers and sophomore crew Mathew Hogan. Boston College claimed the Cornelluis Shields Sr. Trophy for the second straight year with a 3-2 victory over Penn in the finals, while Stanford defeated SUNY Maritime in the Petit Final, 2-1.

The Cardinal went 7-2 in the round robin competition to earn the No. 3 seed heading into the quarterfinals. Stanford defeated Jacksonville in each of the first two races to advance, but lost both races to the eventual champions in the semifinal.

The Match Race Nationals also marked the conclusion of the Fall season for the Cardinal. The 2019 Spring schedule will be available in the coming weeks.
