STANFORD, Calif. – Defender Alana Cook, midfielder Jordan DiBiasi and forward Catarina Macario were each named MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalists, as announced Tuesday.
Stanford is one of two programs with multiple student-athletes on the list and the only school with three semifinalists. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual intercollegiate award administered by United Soccer Coaches. Three finalists will be named on Dec. 7 in conjunction with the Men's College Cup, and the MAC Hermann Trophy banquet will be held at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis on Jan. 4 to announce this year's winners.
The trio led the Cardinal to its fourth straight Pac-12 Conference Championship in 2018 after each playing big roles in Stanford's second national championship in 2017. It is the second consecutive season in which Stanford has had three Hermann Trophy semifinalists with Macario, Tierna Davidson and eventual winner Andi Sullivan earning the distinction in 2017. It is also the third season in a row Stanford has had multiple semifinalists and the sixth time overall.

Cook, a finalist for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award, has started all 92 games since her arrival at Stanford in 2015. A two-year captain (2017-18), Cook was named Pac-12 Defender of the Year in 2018 to go along with first-team All-Pac-12 and CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 first-team honors.
On track to graduate with a degree in Symbolic Systems, she has led the Cardinal to four consecutive Pac-12 championships, also captaining the Cardinal to its second national championship in 2017 – Stanford finished the 2017 campaign going 1,988:59 minutes without allowing a goal from open play. During her four seasons, she has helped Stanford to an 82-5-5 record, including a 45-1-2 record over the last two seasons as captain.
DiBiasi, the 2018 Pac-12 Midfielder of the Year, is also a Hermann Trophy semifinalist for the first time, joining fellow team captain Cook. Appearing in 91 of 92 games since her freshman season, including 90 starts, DiBiasi has 31 career goals, 15 of which are game winners. In 2018, she has set career highs in goals (10) and points (30) while tying her 2017 career high in assists (10).
A member of the 2018 All-Pac-12 first team and CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 first team, DiBiasi was a member of the 2017 College Cup All-Tournament team after scoring both of Stanford's goals in a 2-0 win over South Carolina in the College Cup semifinal (Dec. 1, 2017). She has helped Stanford achieve an 82-5-5 record during her four seasons, including a 45-1-2 clip over the past two seasons.
Macario, who has claimed Pac-12 Forward of the Year in each of her two seasons at Stanford, leads the Cardinal in goals (14) and points (36) heading into the College Cup despite making only 12 starts in 18 total appearances. A member of the All-Pac-12 first team and CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 first team, Macario led Pac-12 play in goals per game (1.12), points per game (2.50), game-winning goals (3) and shots per game.
As a freshman in 2017, Macario took home ESPNW Player of the Year honors after leading the nation in points (50) and assists (16) to go along with first-team All-America and TopDrawerSoccer Best XI first team honors. Her nine career postseason assists are a program record, surpassing the previous mark shared by Christen Press and Chioma Ubagagu (7). Macario was also named a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist in 2017, the only freshman to make the list.
The MAC Hermann Trophy, the most coveted individual honor in NCAA Division I soccer, has been awarded annually since 1967. Stanford past winners include Sullivan (2017), Teresa Noyola (2011), Christen Press (2010) and Kelley O'Hara (2009).
