Winning Streak Still Intact

STANFORD, Calif. – A career defensive night for Tami Alade helped propel No. 2 Stanford to a 3-2 victory over Colorado, Friday, at Maples Pavilion.
 
In just the second five-set outing of the season for Stanford (21-1, 13-0 Pac-12), the Cardinal matched its season-high with 21 blocks to hold off a tough Colorado squad. Alade finished with a Stanford single-match record in the rally-scoring era (2001-present) with 15 blocks. The output also tied for the second-most in program history all-time.
 
The Cardinal pushed its nation-best home winning streak to 28 and has now won 19 straight matches. Colorado dropped to 14-11 overall and 6-8 in the Pac-12.
 
Junior setter Jenna Gray dished out a career-high 62 assists to go with season-bests in kills (5) and digs (8) and blocks (6). Libero Morgan Hentz finished with 16 digs and six assists. The junior has tallied double-digit digs in all 22 matches this season.
 


Junior outside hitter Kathryn Plummer registered her team-best seventh double-double of the season with 23 kills and a season-best 15 digs. The Aliso Viejo, California, native also turned in a season-high five blocks and had two aces.
 
Sophomore outside hitter Meghan McClure also finished with a double-double, her sixth of the year, posting 15 kills and 12 digs. Freshman middle blocker Holly Campbell chipped in with 12 kills and five blocks.
 
Junior opposite Audriana Fitzmorris was in double figures in the kill column with 11 and had seven blocks. Alade had eight kills on 11 errorless swings to hit a team season-high .727.
 


Colorado was led by junior outside hitter Justine Spann, who had a match-high 24 kills on .304 hitting and eight digs. Senior outside hitter Alexa Smith added 17 kills for the Buffaloes, but was held to a .159 attack percentage.
 
Stanford continues its four-match homestand on Sunday against Utah. First serve between the Cardinal and Utes is slated for 2 p.m. on Pac-12 Networks.
