Freshman Features: Zoe Bartel

STANFORD, Calif. - In the first of a nine-part series of Freshman Features introducing the newest Stanford swimmers and divers, Cardinal fans get a chance to know Fort Collins, Colorado, native Zoe Bartel.

What are you most looking forward to about Stanford?
Zoe: I'm looking forward to exploring my academic interests and meeting people from many different cultures.

Favorite swimming moment so far?
Zoe: My favorite moment so far was probably our trip to Hawaii. It was really neat to have an opportunity to get to know the team outside of the pool and off campus before settling into a routine with practice and school.

Best part about being a swimmer?
Zoe: The best part about being a swimmer is the community that you become a part of and the lifelong relationships you form. People also don't judge you as much for wanting to take two hour naps in the middle of the day.

Biggest passion outside of swimming?
Zoe: I'm very passionate about skiing.

Favorite Netflix series right now?
Zoe: Friends.

Name three things on your bucket list.
Zoe:
1.    Helicopter ski in Alaska.
2.    Visit all 7 continents.
3.    BASE jump in a wing suit.

What are your career aspirations after Stanford/swimming?
Zoe: I'm not entirely set on anything right now, but I really want to work with brain injuries in some form so something like bioengineering with a focus on neuroscience would be incredible.
