Cardinal Tops Cardinals

STANFORD, Calif. – Behind Jaylen Jasper's 12 kills, No. 11 Stanford swept No. 14 Ball State, 25-22, 25-17, 25-20, Thursday, at Maples Pavilion.
 
Stanford improved to 3-0 on the season, hitting .325 as a team. The Cardinal held Ball State (2-2) to a .163 clip. Stanford also out dug the Cardinals, 30-24 and held a 9.0-8.0 edge in blocks.
 
Jasper's 12 kills led all players. The sophomore opposite also had seven digs, two blocks and an ace to seal the second set.
 
Setter Paul Bischoff controlled the offense with a season-high 28 assists. He matched his career-high with five kills, hitting 1.000 (5-0-5). The junior also collected five digs, three blocks and two aces, including the one to clinch the opening set.
 


Senior outside hitter Jordan Ewert recorded eight kills, seven digs and three assists, while junior outside Eric Beatty added four kills, two digs and a solo block. Sophomore middle blocker Kyler Presho turned in three kills and a team season-high four blocks.
 
Junior middle blocker Stephen Moye hit .600 with six kills on 10 errorless swings. He finished with three blocks, coming up big late in the first set to give the Cardinal the lead for good after posting back-to-back stuffs. Fifth-year senior libero Kyle Dagostino racked up a match-high eight digs.
 


Ball State was led by senior outside hitter David Siebum and junior outside hitter Matt Szews, who each had nine kills. Eleven different Cardinals players earned playing time.
 
Stanford will be back in action on Saturday against No. 7 Ohio State. First serve is set for 7 p.m. in Burnham Pavilion.
