STANFORD, Calif. - No. 10 Stanford breezed past Saint Mary's 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in the season opener for both teams.
Originally scheduled for Sunday, the match was moved up one day with expected rain in the forecast.
After the Cardinal swept the doubles point for a 1-0 lead, Stanford quickly sealed the match with three dominant victories. Axel Geller and Alexandre Rotsaert posted identical 6-1, 6-0 wins at the top of the lineup before Jack Barber provided the clincher with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph on court five.
With the match decided, Stanford then received straight-set victories from Timothy Sah, William Genesen and Michael Genender.
Stanford returns to action on Tuesday, Jan. 15, hosting Santa Clara at 3 p.m.
