STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford setter Paul Bischoff has been selected the MPSF Defensive Player of the Week for January 7-13.

Bischoff controlled the offense and sparked the Cardinal defense in a pair of ranked wins, sweeping No. 14 Ball State and upsetting No. 7 Ohio State. The junior averaged a team-best 2.00 digs and 1.00 blocks per set to go with 1.00 kills and 9.29 assists per set.

Bischoff started the week with five digs, three blocks and two aces against the Cardinals. He also matched his career high with five kills on 1.000 hitting. The Wheaton, Illinois, native followed up with a season and match-high nine digs and four blocks against the Buckeyes. Additionally, he posted a season-high 37 assists versus Ohio State.

It marks the first career weekly honor for Bischoff and the second of the season for the Cardinal as Jaylen Jasper garnered offensive recognition last week.

No. 9 Stanford hosts No. 2 UC Irvine for a pair of matches on The Farm, Thursday and Saturday in Maples Pavilion.
