Cardinal Rolls at Davis

DAVIS, Calif. – Makenzie Fischer scored six goals for the fourth time in five games and No. 2 Stanford rolled to a 17-6 win at No. 11 UC Davis on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Cardinal (7-0, 1-0) has reeled off seven consecutive wins to begin the year and outscored its opponents 147-44. The league's leading scorer, Fischer is averaging 5.00 goals per game and Stanford is off to the best offensive start to a season in program history.
 
Fischer collected her hat trick in the first quarter as the Cardinal went up 5-2. She scored at 7:20, converted a penalty at 5:09 and netted her third with seven seconds left in the period. Sarah Klass added the other two goals for Stanford, rattling the cage in even-strength situations at 4:32 and 1:28.
 
The Cardinal did itself one better in the second, putting in six and holding the Aggies scoreless. Chloe Harbilas converted Stanford's first 6-on-5 to start the run at 6:12 before Hannah Shabb scored back-to-back goals at 5:38 and 4:44.
 
The Cardinal scored three in the span of 66 seconds late in the frame. Madison Stamen took advantage of another power play at 2:36, Makenzie Fischer nabbed her fourth at 2:08 and Aria Fischer got on the board at 1:30 to put Stanford on top 11-2.
 
Mackenzie Wiley started Stanford off with a score at 6:59 in the third, Fischer scored her fifth midway through the period and then fired in her sixth in a 6-on-5 situation with 1:03 on the clock.
 
Stanford added three more in the fourth off the hands of Stamen (7:06), Wiley (6:08) and Lauren Indart (2:18).
 
Emalia Eichelberger played the first half in the cage and made six saves. Thea Walsh came on in the second and made four stops.
 
The Cardinal is on the road again next weekend when it plays in the Barbara Kalbus Invitational at UC Irvine. Stanford starts on Friday, Feb. 22 against CSUN at 11:15 a.m.
