STANFORD, Calif. - Freshman Emily Klingaman delivered a walk-off win with a ground ball to shortstop that plated Alyssa Horeczko in the bottom of the eighth as Stanford (6-1) posted a 2-1 win over Iowa State (1-5) on Saturday from the DeMarini Invitational.

Klingaman would finish the game 2-for-4 with the RBI, a double and a triple.
Horeczko got the inning going with a one-out single before Teaghan Cowles punched a single off the glove of Sydney Stites at second base and took second on the throw to third base. Klingaman worked the count to 2-2 before grounding a pitch to shortstop that allowed the speedy Horeczko to come home with the winning run.
Senior Carolyn Lee was stellar despite receiving a no-decision after allowing one unearned run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts. The lone blemish came in the fifth inning when she erred on a comebacker that allowed Taylor Nearad to score from third base.
After two scoreless innings for both teams, Cowles broke the stalemate with a solo home run out to left centerfield. The round-tripper was her second of the season, and highlighted a 2-for-4 effort out of the leadoff spot in the order.
Kiana Pancino took over with one out and nobody aboard in the eighth inning, striking out both batters she faced to eventually collect the win and move to 2-0 on the season.
Savannah Sanders was charged with the loss after allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over the 7.1 innings in the circle.
Stanford will get right back to action on Saturday, hosting Colorado State in the second of three scheduled games from the DeMarini Invitational.
