STANFORD, Calif. – Graduate Rico Stormer has been named the Pac-12 Wrestler of the Week, the conference announced today.
Stormer helped the Cardinal post wins over Oregon State (19-16) and Cal Poly (32-5) last week.
The 174-pounder came-from-behind to defeat Oregon State's Colt Doyle, 7-6, after trailing 4-1 going into the final period. The Circle, Montana, native, put six points on the board in the third, helping Stanford clinch its first dual win in Corvallis in program history.
Stormer closed out the week with an 11-2 major decision over Cal Poly's Nathan Tausch on Senior Day at Maples Pavilion. Stanford's rout of the Mustangs was head coach Jason Borrelli's 106th career win, putting him past Chris Horpel as the Cardinal's all-time winningest coach in school history.
Stanford improved to 9-3 on the season and 3-1 in the Pac-12, while Stormer is now 17-11 overall and 8-4 in duals.
This marks the first career weekly honor for Stormer, and the seventh for the Cardinal since the award began in 2016.
Stanford closes out the dual portion of its schedule on Saturday at No. 7 Nebraska. Action begins at 5 p.m. PT on BTN Plus and Flowwrestling.
