Wu Takes Charge

LA QUINTA, Calif. – Senior Brandon Wu fired a 6-under-par 65 to earn the opening round lead Monday in The Prestige Presented by Charles Schwab at the Greg Norman Course at PGA West.

Wu racked up five birdies and eagled the par-5 16th hole, touring the back nine in 5-under 31. He has a three-shot advantage against a strong, 16-team field that includes top-ranked Oklahoma State.

Wu's round was the team's lowest of the season and matched his best versus par on The Farm. He also shot a 6-under 65 last year in the first round of the Nike Collegiate Invite.

As a team, the Cardinal combined for a score of 7-over 291 and is tied for sixth, 13 shots off the pace set by Oklahoma State. Stanford's B squad is also knotted for sixth in the 54-hole tournament.

The B team was led by junior Dakota McNealy with an even-par 71.

Isaiah Salinda, Nate Menon and Freddie Lee share 24th at 2-over 73, followed by David Snyder (74) at t-35. Daulet Tulebayev (76) is tied for 49th, Henry Shimp (77) and Ethan Ng (77) are tied for 56th, and Christopher Meyers (79) is tied for 73rd.

The second round will be played Tuesday. Golfweek will live stream coverage on Tuesday and Wednesday. For live scoring, visit GoStanford.com.
