Cardinal Swept at Hawaii

HONOLULU – Despite 14 kills from Jordan Ewert, No. 8 Stanford dropped a 25-15, 27-25, 25-22 decision at No. 2 Hawaii, Friday, at the Stan Sheriff Center.
 
Ewert was the only Cardinal to register double-digit kills against the Warriors (4-0). The senior outside hitter recorded his second double-double of the season, finishing with 10 digs. Stanford hit .256 as a team and dropped to 7-2 on the season.
 
Hawaii hit .364 as a team and was led by Rado Parapunov's 17 kills. Stijn van Tilburg added 11 kills, while libero Gage Worsley finished with a match-high 11 digs.
 
The Cardinal finished with a sideout rate of just 61 percent and was unable to establish its block. Hawaii held an 8.5 to 1.0 advantage in blocks.
 
Junior setter Paul Bischoff totaled 34 assists while controlling the offense. Sophomore opposite Jaylen Jasper had seven kills, but hit just .130.
 
Sophomore middle blocker Kyler Presho hit .750 with six kills on eight errorless swings. Junior Stephen Moye also tallied six kills for the Cardinal. Sophomore outside hitter Leo Henken, who started his third straight match, totaled four kills and seven digs.
 
Stanford and Hawaii will play again on Sunday at 8 p.m. PT.
