SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Stanford women's golf team closed the first day of the Bruin Wave Invitational in a tie for second after 36 holes of the 54-hole event at the San Luis Obispo Country Club on Monday.

Aline Krauter and Mika Liu are tied for fifth at 4-over 148 to lead Stanford. Some teams did not complete two rounds of play because of darkness, including Oregon, which leads at 16-over. Stanford is tied with UCLA, each with a 23-over par 599.

Oregon's Kathleen Scavo leads as the only individual at even par. However, she still has three holes to complete the second round.

Ziyi Wang shot up the leader board by 23 places in the second round by shooting an even-par 72, the lowest round by a Stanford player of the day. She finished with a birdie on the par-4 369-yard 18th hole to move into a tie for 15th.  She overcame first-round score of 78.

Krauter, who went 73-75, had five birdies on the day. Liu, who shot equal rounds of 74, had four. The freshman Krauter has a season-best multi-round tournament finish of fifth, at the Annika Intercollegiate in September. Liu, a sophomore, has a best multi-round finish this year of 39th, at the Stanford Intercollegiate.

The third and final round will be tee-time start beginning at approximately 7:25 p.m.
