Stanford Falls at Hawaii

HONOLULU – No. 2 Hawaii's high-powered offense earned a 25-15, 25-18, 25-16 sweep over No. 8 Stanford, Sunday, at the Stan Sheriff Center.
 
Stanford (7-3) was held to a .236 attack percentage, while Hawaii (6-0) hit .544 for the match. The Rainbow Warriors have not dropped a set this season.
 
Sophomore opposite Jaylen Jasper led the team with 13 kills, while senior outside hitter Jordan Ewert added 11 kills and four digs. No other Cardinal player had more than three kills.
 
Hawaii hit .619 in the opening set and benefited from a balanced attack. Four Warriors notched three or more kills in the set. Stanford hit just .179 in the frame. Jasper led the way with six kills on .400 hitting.
 
Cardinal setter Paul Bischoff finished with 30 assists, four digs, two blocks and two kills.
 
Stanford's passing improved in the second set as the Cardinal was able to run more of its offense early on. However, tied 17-17, Hawaii went on an 8-1 run to capture the second set victory.
 
Stanford had a sideout rate of just 53 percent for the match. Hawaii applied pressure on the Cardinal all night with its serve, totaling nine aces. Stanford was hurt by 10 service errors to just one ace.
 
Hawaii had just six attack errors in the match and was led offensively by Stijn van Tilburg's 12 kills on .444 hitting and Rado Parapunov's 10 kills on 17 errorless swings (.588). Setter Joe Worsley racked up 34 assists, nine digs and six kills for the Rainbow Warriors.
 
The Cardinal remains on the road next week, opening MPSF play at No. 5 UCLA on Thursday on the Pac-12 Networks. Stanford will also face No. 6 Pepperdine on Friday.
