Captains Announced

STANFORD, Calif. – Senior Julia Massaro, junior Daniella McMahon, junior Mikaela Watson and sophomore Taylor Scornavacco were selected as Stanford women's lacrosse team captains as announced by head coach Amy Bokker on Tuesday.

"Our four captains serve as a great cross-section of our team," said head coach Amy Bokker. "They represent three different classes – a senior, two juniors and a sophomore—and have the ability to connect with every athlete in our program. They represent all the leadership qualities that our team values—confidence, authenticity, caring and passion—and are committed to carrying out the culture and leadership put in place by those before them. We are excited to start the season under Julia, Daniella, Mikaela and Taylor's leadership."

Massaro was named third-team All-America last season and earned first-team All-Pac-12 and Pac-12 All-Academic second team honors. She set the school record with 86 draw controls as a junior, including a single-game program record of 11 at Cal on April 20, 2018.

McMahon had a strong sophomore campaign in 2018, as she played and started all 20 games and was named All-Pac-12 first team. She caused the fourth-most turnovers in a season in school history (28), and capped off a strong 2018 season as a Pac-12 All-Tournament team selection.

Watson has had an active career at Stanford in her first two seasons, playing in a total of 34 games and starting in 14. In 2018, Watson's season was highlighted with Pac-12 All-Academic second team honors, while on the field she finished with eight goals, one assist, nine points, 10 ground balls, four caused turnovers and one draw control. During the 2018 season, Stanford was 8-0 in games which Watson scored.

In her freshman year, Scornavacco played in all 20 games as she finished the year with 18 goals, seven assists, 25 points, 21 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. In her collegiate debut in 2018 against Denver, she registered a goal, assist, ground ball and a caused turnover. Her freshman year was highlighted a by season-high three goal performance at No. 19 Colorado.

The trio helped lead Stanford to the inaugural Pac-12 Tournament championship last season. The Cardinal, which finished the 2018 campaign with a 15-5 record, opens the 2019 at home against Denver on Friday at 6 p.m.
