Strong After Two

PHOENIX, Ariz. – Stanford maintained its one-stroke advantage Saturday after two rounds of the Ping/ASU Invitational at Papago Golf Course. The Cardinal has a 36-hole total of 5-under 571, one shot ahead of the host Sun Devils.
 
The final round is Sunday and 15 teams are competing.
 
The No. 3 Cardinal, seeking its third-straight tournament win, was led by juniors Albane Valenzuela and Andrea Lee. Valenzuela recorded the team's best score of the day, a bogey-free, 3-under 69. Lee produced five birdies and shot 70.
 
Junior Ziyi Wang overcame a tough start with four birdies to match par, while sophomore Mike Liu added a 73 and freshman Aline Krauter a 76.
 
Competing individually, sophomore Kelsey Zeng shot 72 and freshman Calista Reyes posted a 74.

Lee leads the individual competition with a two-day score of 7-under 137, one shot better than Jennifer Chang of USC and Kaitlin Milligan of Oklahoma.
 
Valenzuela and Zeng are tied for 10th at 1-under 143, Wang is tied for 16th at 1-over 145, Liu and Reyes are tied for 20th at 2-over 146, and Krauter is tied for 31st at 4-over 148.
 
Zeng eagled the par-4 14th hole.
 
Sunday's last round begins at 7:30 a.m. Lee has seven career victories and will try to equal the school record established by Mhairi McKay in 1994-97.
