Awards Sweep

STANFORD, Calif. - Sophomores Ali Baiocco and Trudie Grattan swept the Pac-12 Conference weekly lacrosse awards on Monday as the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. Baiocco was also named the National Player of the Week by Brine and US Lacrosse.

The duo led No. 15 Stanford (4-1) to an East Coast sweep and its first top 10 road win since 2015. Grattan is the first goalkeeper to win the award in back-to-back weeks and just the second player in the two-year history of the awards to win two straight defensive honors.

In Friday's 16-13 win at Albany, Baiocco led the Cardinal and set a career high with seven points, which included a career-best five goals and two assists. In Sunday's 15-12 victory at No. 10 Stony Brook, Baiocco eclipsed that effort with a career-best six goals. In addition, she led the Cardinal with four ground balls and shot 75.0 percent, including 2-for-2 on free positions. For the week, she finished with 13 points on 11 goals and two assists, scooped up five ground balls and had a 68.8 shooting percentage (81.3 percent on goal), including 3-for-4 on free positions.

Grattan was 2-0 with 22 saves (11.0/game) and a .468 save percentage on the East Coast. She set a career-high with 10 saves on Friday, and then surpassed that with a career-best 12 saves against a top-10 opponent on the road. Against the Great Danes, Grattan also led the team with a career-high seven ground balls -- most in a game by a Cardinal this season. Grattan held Albany scoreless over the last 5:28 with a pair of saves and two ground balls to secure the win.

Baiocco is Stanford's first Offensive Player of the Week since Kelsey Murray on March 5, 2018. Grattan is one of three Cardinal to win the defensive award, including Julia Massaro and Allie DaCar, who each won twice last year.

Stanford brings its four-game winning streak back home to start Pac-12 play this weekend. The defending Pac-12 Tournament champions host Colorado on Friday at 6 p.m., and then welcome former assistant coach Chelsea Gamble as the head coach of the Oregon Ducks on Sunday at 1 p.m.
