STANFORD, Calif. - Senior defender Julia Massaro was named to the Tewaaraton Award watch list on Thursday afternoon.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier college coaches and are appointed annually by the Tewaaraton Foundation. On April 25, the field will be narrowed to 25 men's and 25 women's nominees.
Massaro is Stanford's all-time career leader in draw controls. This season, she leads the team with 69 draw controls, which also stands as the second-most in a season in school history, trailing only the 86 she won in 2018. She also leads the team with 32 ground balls this season, and has caused eight turnovers. The defender has also contributed a pair of assists.
"We congratulate this talented group for their outstanding performances," said Jeffrey Harvey, Chairman of the Tewaaraton Award. "These players have proved they deserve to be in the conversation for lacrosse's top award and we wish them the very best the remainder of the season."
Massaro and the Cardinal embark on the final Pac-12 regular season road trip of the season this weekend. No. 18 Stanford takes on No. 22 Colorado at 3 p.m. PT in Boulder on Friday, and then travels to Eugene to face Oregon at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
