PALOS VERDES ESTATES, Calif. – Junior Albane Valenzuela shot a 1-under 70 on Tuesday to maintain a four-stroke lead heading into the final day of the 2019 Pac-12 Women's Golf Championship at Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Cardinal is in second as a team at 8-over, just seven strokes off USC's lead. Stanford shot a 3-over 287 on Tuesday.

"Today was a much better, all-around team performance," Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf Anne Walker said. "It was great to see Aline (Krauter) rebound from her first round and Andrea (Lee) too. Albane (Valenzuela) continued to be steady and consistent which is paying off out here in the tough conditions. She's in a strong position heading into tomorrow. As a team, we will need some magic tomorrow, but we have a chance and we are excited about that."

After shooting the best round in school history and matching the best round in conference history at the Pac-12 Women's Golf Championship on Monday, Valenzuela followed that up with another round under par on Tuesday. She holds a four-stroke lead over Arizona State's Olivia Mehaffey and those two are the only golfers under par for the tournament. Valenzuela had two birdies and a bogey on the day and has now totaled 27 pars and eight birdies through two rounds.

"I was very patient (today)," Valenzuela said following the round. "Any round under par here is really good. I had a lot of birdie opportunities today, but kind of disappointed I missed those. At the same time, it means my ball-striking was really good today. Anything can happen (tomorrow). I am just going to play my game and we'll see what the outcome is."

Fellow junior Andrea Lee had a strong day on Tuesday, totaling an even-par 71 to move up to a tie for 11th. She had four birdies in the round along with 11 pars. Freshman Aline Krauter bounced back from Monday's round with a 1-over 72 on Tuesday. She matched Lee's four birdies throughout the round, tied for the team high. Ziyi Wang and Mika Liu are tied for 25th after two rounds at 8-over. Wang closed with two birdies in the final three holes to finish the day at 3-over. Liu had three birdies in the round, but struggled with consistency and finished 5-over on the day.

The Cardinal close out the final round of the Pac-12 Women's Golf Championship on Wednesday. Live action on Pac-12 Networks begins at 2 p.m. PT.
