STANFORD, Calif. – Incoming freshmen Fran Belibi, Haley Jones and Ashten Prechtel will participate in the Jordan Brand Classic this Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The trio will be the seventh, eighth and ninth future Cardinal to represent Stanford at the Jordan Brand Classic, now in its fifth year on the women's side. DiJonai Carrington, Nadia Fingall and Anna Wilson were on rosters for the event in April 2016, Maya Dodson and Kiana Williams participated two years ago and Jenna Brown last year. Williams was named the MVP of the West Team after leading all scorers with 20 points in 2017.
Belibi and Prechtel will be on the Away Team in black jerseys while Jones will be on the Home Team and wear white. Stanford's three Jordan Brand Classic All-Americans are tied with South Carolina for the most in the country. The game, which tips at 3 p.m. PT, will be streamed live on Twitter @Jumpman23.
Belibi, the first woman since Candace Parker in 2004 to win the Powerade Jam Fest dunk title at the McDonald's All-American Game last month and the No. 23 prospect in the country, scored 21.8 points a game this year and added 12.3 rebounds while earning Gatorade Player of the Year honors in Colorado.
Jones, the nation's consensus No. 1 recruit and Naismith and WBCA National High School Player of the Year, averaged 26.1 points and 12.1 rebounds a game in her senior season and was also chosen as the Gatorade Player of the Year in California.
Prechtel, the No. 16 overall player in the class and a McDonald's All-American along with Belibi and Jones, averaged 23.3 points and 17.6 rebounds per game and finished her career as the leading rebounder in Colorado history.
Stanford's incoming class, which also includes five-star talent Hannah Jump from nearby Pinewood School, is ranked second nationally by espnW HoopGurlz.
The Cardinal returns four starters to a team that won 30 games, reached the Elite Eight for the 12th time in 16 years and won the program's 13th Pac-12 Tournament title in 2018-19.
Stanford checks in at No. 3 in The Athletic's early women's college basketball rankings and will host Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, Tennessee and Ohio State as part of an impressive home schedule next year.
