Sportswomen of the Year

STANFORD, Calif. – Two-time NCAA champions Audriana Fitzmorris and Jenna Gray have been selected as the co-recipients of the Spire Sportswoman of the Year by the Kansas City Sports Commission.

The Cardinal duo will be recognized at the 46th Kansas City Sports Awards Banquet, presented by Populous, on June 13 at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown Muehlebach Tower.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and 2018 NFL MVP will be honored as the Sportsman of the Year, while other recognitions include a championship touting GM, a coach boasting an undefeated season and a highly-decorated athlete turned coach and motivational speaker. The event will also feature special appearances by Les Miles (head football coach, Kansas Jayhawks) and Chris Klieman (head football coach, Kansas State Wildcats).

"As the hometown sports architecture firm, we couldn't be more proud to support Kansas City's hometown sports heroes," said Earl Santee, FAIA, Managing Director of Populous. "The accomplishments of those being honored continue to inspire and raise the bar for the next generation of leadership in sports."

Fitzmorris and Gray were integral parts of Stanford's 2016 and 2018 national championships. As juniors in 2018, the pair helped Stanford to a near-perfect season which culminated in the program's eighth NCAA title, the most of any program in the nation. The Cardinal finished 34-1 to set a program record for wins, became the first Pac-12 team to go undefeated in conference play since 2003 and featured six All-Americans.

Gray was tabbed the Pac-12 Setter of the Year and an AVCA First Team All-American for the second straight season, while Fitzmorris landed on the AVCA second team and is a three-time All-American. The pair played together in high school at St. James Academy in Lenexoa, Kansas, where they won three state titles and the 2013 national championship.
