STANFORD, Calif. – Junior Will Matthiessen is the Pac-12 Player of the Week, as announced Monday.

Matthiessen, a management science and engineering major who hails from West Linn, Oregon, led Stanford to a 4-1 record last week, including a 2-1 Pac-12 series win over Arizona. In five games, Matthiessen led or co-led the Cardinal offense in batting average (.500), slugging percentage (.950), on-base percentage (.565), home runs (3), total bases (19) and hits (10). Matthiessen also earned the win in 5.0 innings pitched on Saturday, striking out five while allowing two runs on five hits.

On the season, Matthiessen leads the Cardinal in batting average (.377), hits (52), RBI (37) and on-base percentage (.460). Over the last seven games, Stanford has scored 85 runs with 37 home runs in its last 14. He is the second-consecutive Cardinal to earn Pac-12 Player of the Week honors after Brandon Wulff picked up the award one week ago.

No. 2 Stanford is back in action Tuesday when it travels to face Santa Clara at 6 p.m., followed by a three-game series at USC in Los Angeles, starting Friday at 7 p.m.
