STANFORD, Calif. – Abrahm DeVine's successful title defense in the 400-yard individual medley highlighted Stanford's final season under the Goldman Family Director of Men's Swimming Ted Knapp.
In addition to DeVine's second individual title, Noah Vigran earned Pac-12 Diver of the Year and Pac-12 Freshman Diver of the Year honors while Patrick Jeffrey was named Pac-12 Diving Coach of the Year for the second time. Matt Anderson earned Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, the Cardinal extended its streak of top-two finishes in the Pac-12 and all 20 student-athletes who were eligible for Pac-12 All-Academic recognition earned the honor. Below is a recap of Stanford's 2018-19 season.
70 – In 35 seasons coaching Stanford swimmers, Ted Knapp oversaw 70 national championships in addition to seven team championships (1985, 1986, 1987, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1998) and 33 conference championships.

39 – Knapp departs as Goldman Family Director of Men's Swimming after 39 total years of service to the program as a student-athlete, assistant coach, associate head coach and head coach. A former All-American, Knapp is a 1981 graduate of Stanford with a degree in civil engineering.
38 – Stanford has finished in the top two at the Pac-12 Swimming and Diving Championships for 38 straight seasons.
20 – Stanford put a league-high 20 student-athletes on the Pac-12 All-Academic teams – the Cardinal did not have a single student-athlete who was eligible for the honor miss the recognition.

12 – Twelve Cardinal received All-America recognition with four swimmers and divers (Abrahm DeVine – 3, Mason Gonzalez – 2, Alex Liang – 2 and Noah Vigran – 2) receiving multiple honors. As a team, Stanford finished 15th at the NCAA Championships.
7 – Stanford bid farewell to its graduating class of seven seniors – Anderson (human biology), Cole Cogswell (product design), Patrick Conaton (international relations, masters in media economics), DeVine (computer science), Ryan Dudzinski (science, technology and society), Jack Walsh (management science and engineering) and Brad Zdroik (economics).

5 – Five student-athletes from the 2018-19 squad were named to Team USA – DeVine, Grant Shoults, True Sweetser, Jack Levant and Daniel Roy. Knapp and assistant coach Jeff Kostoff were also named coaches for Team USA.

3.64 –Anderson earned Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors at the Pac-12 Conference Championships. A six-time All-American, Anderson served as a team captain for the 2017-18 season and has been an active member of the Stanford community as a heavy advocate for mental health awareness during his four seasons on The Farm. Anderson, who currently owns a 3.64 grade-point average, is on track to graduate with a degree in human biology.

3:35.29 –DeVine's program-record, national-championship-winning time in the 400 IM from 2018 – DeVine successfully defended his title at the 2019 NCAA Championships, swimming 3:36.41 in the championship heat to secure the trophy. DeVine's stellar Stanford career comes to a close with 15 total All-America honors.

2 – Vigran took home two All-America honors from the NCAA Championships on the 3-meter and platform. Vigran finished runner-up in all three diving events at Pac-12's, winning the Platform at the NCAA Zone E Championships and adding a second-place finish on the 3-meter and a fifth-place finish on the 1-meter. Diving Coach Patrick Jeffrey also picked up his second Pac-12 Diving Coach of the Year honor.
1:32.61 – Levant swam a program-record time in the 200-yard freestyle at the 2018 Texas Invitational on the lead-off leg of Stanford's 800-yard freestyle relay. Shoults (4:10.02 – 500 free) and Sweetser (8:49.69) are the other two returning student-athletes with program records to their names.

51.93 – Junior Hank Poppe swam a personal-best 51.93 in the 100-yard breaststroke at the NCAA Championships, good for the second-fastest time in school history, .18 second behind John Criste's time (51.75) from 2009.
