Pan Am Games Trials

STANFORD, Calif. – Kiana Williams has been selected to attend trials for the 2019 U.S. Pan American Games Women's Basketball Team.

Trials to choose the 12-member team from an initial pool of 36 will take place May 16-20 at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The team members will return to Colorado Springs for training camp July 23-Aug. 5, before competing in the women's basketball tournament at the 2019 Pan American Games from Aug. 6-10 in Lima, Peru.

Williams will be the eighth Stanford player involved with USA Basketball in the month of May. On Monday, it was announced that Lacie Hull, Lexie Hull, Estella Moschkau and Anna Wilson would comprise the Cardinal's team entered in the 2019 USA Basketball Women's 3x3 National Championship this weekend in Las Vegas. Yesterday, Fran Belibi, Jenna Brown and Haley Jones were part of a group of 30 athletes that accepted invitations to participate in the 2019 USA Women's U19 World Cup Team trials May 16-19 also in Colorado Springs.

Williams just wrapped up her sophomore season at Stanford in which averaged 14.3 points and 4.7 assists per game. She was second on the team in scoring, ninth in the Pac-12 in assists and the first Cardinal player to average more than 4.5 assists per game in eight years.

Her 91 made 3-pointers tied Krista Rappahahn (2006) for third in single-season history at Stanford and Williams has made 162 from deep in her career, eighth among Power 5 conference players over the past two seasons.

The 5-foot-8 guard was an Ann Meyers Drysdale Award finalist, voted to the Chicago Regional All-Tournament Team and selected All-Pac-12 by both the league's coaches and its media in 2019.

Williams has previous experience at trials at the U17 (2014 and 2016) and U16 (2015) levels, but has yet to make a USA Basketball roster.

Stanford checks in at No. 3 in ESPN's early women's college basketball rankings and will host Oregon, Oregon State, UCLA, Tennessee and Ohio State as part of an impressive home schedule next year. Season ticket membership deposits are currently being accepted for 2019-20.
