STANFORD, Calif. – Led by second-team selection Jaylen Jasper, three Cardinal earned All-America honors from VolleyballMag.com, the publication announced Tuesday.
Joining Jasper were seniors Kyle Dagostino and Jordan Ewert who both landed on the honorable mention list. The trio, along with setter Paul Bischoff, were named AVCA All-America honorable mention in April.
A VolleyballMag.com Freshman All-American last season, Jasper was a repeat All-MPSF pick this season. Having played both opposite and outside hitter in 2019, the Annapolis, Maryland, native was third in the MPSF in kills (3.70), fourth in points (4.20), and ranked 14th in aces (0.23). His kills per set average was 13th nationally, while his points per set mark was 18th in the country. A two-time MPSF Offensive Player of the Week in 2019, Jasper registered a career-high 29 kills in a five-set win over USC on Feb. 14. It was the most kills by an MPSF player in two years. For the season, he had double-digit kills in 18 matches, including 20+ three times, and two double-doubles.
Dagostino, a fifth-year from Tampa, Florida, earned All-MPSF honors for the first time in his career as the Cardinal's libero and is being recognized by VolleyballMag.com for the first time. He averaged a team-best 2.08 digs per set, Dagostino ranked second in the league and 17th nationally. Additionally, he dished out 1.12 assists per set in conference matches. He tallied double-digit digs in seven matches, including a career-high 16 in in the MPSF quarterfinals against BYU. He was twice named the MPSF Defensive Player of the Week this season.
Ewert closed out his career as a two-time All-MPSF selection and earned his first career accolade from VolleyballMag.com. The Antioch native ranked in the top 15 in the MPSF in kills (3.65; 4th), hitting percentage (.313; 13th), points (4.00; 8th) and digs (1.68; 9th) this season. His kills per set average was 15th in the country in 2019. The outside hitter posted double-digit kills in 20 matches, reaching the 20-kill plateau on five occasions. He led the team with five double-doubles, and registered career highs in kills (28), digs (17) and blocks (5) this season. Ewert earned MPSF Offensive Player of the Week honors on Jan. 21.
