Sheils Joins Women’s Golf

STANFORD, Calif. – Margot and Mitch Milias Director of Women's Golf Anne Walker announced on Monday the hiring of Maddie Sheils as the program's new Assistant Coach. Sheils, who just wrapped up a six-year professional golf career, joins the staff to replace previous Associate Head Coach Lauren Dobashi, who last week announced that she had chosen to pursue other career opportunities after six seasons on staff.

"Maddie is bringing a wealth of competitive knowledge and golf expertise to our program," Walker said. "Through her playing career, she has shown that she is a determined, thorough and passionate competitor. This skill set will carry over to her coaching career and undoubtedly give our program an infusion of excitement and ambitious spirit for the upcoming season. We are excited to get started and learn from Maddie."

A professional golfer on the Symetra Tour and LPGA, Sheils recently retired following her six-year playing career. She played four years on the Symetra Tour, earning a victory at the 2015 FireKeeper's Casino Hotel Championship in Battle Creek, Michigan. In 2017, Sheils competed as a rookie on the LPGA Tour. Her best finish came at the 2017 Marathon Classic in Toledo, Ohio. During her two seasons on the LPGA Tour, Sheils qualified for 24 events and made nine cuts.

"I am honored to join the prestigious Stanford athletic department and Cardinal women's golf program," Sheils said. "I am thrilled to support Coach Walker and this fantastic group of student-athletes as we pursue our next national championship. I look forward to getting started."

Sheils is a 2012 graduate of Nebraska with a degree in philosophy. During her collegiate career she was a four-time National Golf Coaches' Association Scholastic All-American. Sheils was married on Saturday to her husband, Steve Moser.
