Four Academic All-Americans

STANFORD, Calif. -- Four Stanford athletes earned Academic All-America recognition for the first time, as the Google Cloud Academic All-America Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country/Track & Field teams were announced Thursday.

Repeat NCAA women's javelin champion Mackenzie Little joined distance runner Fiona O'Keeffe on the women's second team. NCAA champions Steven Fahy and Harrison Williams were named to the men's second team.

Little, completed her collegiate career with four Pac-12 javelin titles, four first-team All-America honors and two NCAA championships. Little, a senior, majored in human biology and earned a 3.59 cumulative GPA. She ranks No. 5 on the all-time collegiate performers' list.

Fahy, a fifth-year human biology major with a 3.76 GPA, won the 2019 NCAA 3,000 steeplechase title on June 7 in Austin. He tripped over the final barrier while leading, but recovered in time to get up and win the race to the finish line. Fahy is a two-time Pac-12 champion and the first from Stanford to win an NCAA steeple crown.

Williams, a fifth-year product design major with a 3.66 GPA, won the 2019 NCAA indoor heptathlon title and was the NCAA outdoor decathlon runner-up. He was the 2018 Pac-12 decathlon champion and was recently named a recipient of the Tom Hansen Conference Medal by the Pac-12 for his athletics, academics, and leadership.

O'Keeffe, a junior majoring in Earth systems with a 3.97 GPA, is a five-time All-America. She was third in the NCAA indoor 5,000 and seventh in the NCAA outdoor 5,000. She captured the MPSF indoor title in the 3,000 and was the Pac-12 outdoor runner-up in the 5,000.

The honors give Stanford cross country and track and field 34 Academic All-America honors, earned by 29 individuals.
