Card Helps U.S. to Silver

STANFORD, Calif. - Current Stanford gymnast Brody Malone, along with former Cardinal Robert Neff and Grant Breckenridge, helped Team USA to the team silver medal in men's gymnastics at the 2019 Pan American Games on Sunday evening from Polideportivo Villa El Salvador in Lima, Peru.

The U.S. scored a team total of 249.400 to take second to Brazil's 250.450. Canada took bronze with a score of 246.725. The second-place finish for the U.S. men marks the team's fifth Pan American Games silver medal in men's gymnastics. The USA had the top event scores for floor exercise and pommel horse, with the second best on vault and parallel bars.

Neff and Malone both competed in the all-around, with Neff capturing the top overall score of 82.350. Malone compiled a score of 78.050 to finish 12th overall, as both gymnasts qualified for Monday's all-around final competition. In addition to competing in the all-around, Neff qualified for event finals in floor exercise and pommel horse, including registering the top score on the floor (14.050). Malone will compete on pommel horse and parallel bars after scoring the top mark on the horse (14.500). Malone is also the third reserve on still rings, while Breckenridge is the second reserve on high bar.
