Ashley Tai is a senior from El Dorado Hills, California, and competes on beam, floor and vault. She's majoring in product design and is a member of the Stanford Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. A three-time Junior Olympic National qualifier, Tai volunteers at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and for Children's Champions.
What is your favorite mode of transportation around campus?
I love riding my SONDERS (electric bike) because it's easy to get around quickly and efficiently.
What is the most interesting thing in your purse or wallet?
My Costco card. I love going to Costco and being able to try a bunch of samples.
Favorite song or lyrics that best describe you?
Shotgun by George Ezra. It's fun, lighthearted, and I love going on adventures, spending time with friends, and relaxing in beautiful places, all in which the song encompasses.
Favorite Netflix series, movie or show?
I've binge-watched 17 TV shows, but Grey's Anatomy and Gossip Girl are my all-time favorites.

I started competing at Stanford University when I was 7.
Your go-to order at a coffee house?
One of my new favorite places to go is the Verve Coffee Roasters, where I always get the avocado toast and either The Missile (cold brew with cream) or a chai latte with oat milk.
Which celebrity would you want to sit next to on a long flight and why?
Maddie Ziegler. I loved watching her dance and become a star on Dance Moms. Now, as such a beautiful and strong influencer, I think it would be really interesting to get to know her as a person.
What is your dream job and what makes it so amazing?
I would love to work as an Imagineer for Disney. Disney combines technology and design in such a unique and magical way, and I think it would be extremely rewarding to work behind the scenes innovating and designing new experiences for people.
