DURHAM, NH - No. 18 Stanford wrapped up its first road swing of the season with a balanced offensive attack, defeating Vermont 5-2 on Sunday afternoon in a neutral-site game.
The Cardinal (5-3, 0-0 America East) won three of four during its four-game, six-day East Coast road trip, a stretch that was highlighted by a 1-0 shutout of No. 10 Harvard.
Corinne Zanolli recorded her first hat trick of the season and fourth of her career to pace Stanford, which owned advantages in shots (13-9) and penalty corners (5-4).
Isabelle Pilson and Jessica Welch also found the cage while Lynn Vanderstichele contributed her first career goal.
Leading 2-1 at halftime, the Cardinal tacked on back-to-back goals midway through the third quarter before Vermont (2-3, 0-0 America East) trimmed the deficit to 4-2 entering the final 15 minutes.
Kelsey Bing picked up the win in the cage before Hannah Santos closed out the final six minutes.
Stanford hosts California on Friday, Sept. 20, at 2:30 p.m. in a match televised on Pac-12 Networks.
