LINCOLN, Neb. – Kathryn Plummer registered 19 kills, while Morgan Hentz had 22 digs to lead No. 2 Stanford to a 25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 25-16 win at No. 1 Nebraska on Wednesday.
Stanford (6-1) served tough and held Nebraska (7-1) to a .150 hitting percentage in front of a new record crowd of 8,632 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center.
Plummer finished with four blocks and a season-high four aces. Senior setter Jenna Gray controlled the offense with 50 assists and racked up 11 digs for her second double-double of the season.
Stanford won the opening set, 25-21. It was the first time it had won a first set since playing at No. 7 Florida on Sept. 4. The Cardinal hit .306 as a team and was led by Plummer's four kills.
Freshman Kendall Kipp matched her career-high with 11 kills on .310 hitting to go with three blocks. Graduate Madeleine Gates added 10 kills on a .346 attack percentage and seven blocks, while senior opposite Audriana Fitzmorris had eight kills and two blocks.
Nebraska evened the match with a 25-22 win in the second despite being out hit by the Cardinal, .308 - .278.
Juniors Meghan McClure and Kate Formico helped the Cardinal defense tally 63 digs with 15 and 11, respectively.
Stanford got its block going in the third, registering five in the set as it went on to win 25-17. The Cardinal held Nebraska to a -.036 hitting percentage in the set.
Stanford returns to The Farm to host No. 12 BYU on Saturday in its final nonconference contest. The match will be televised on Pac-12 Networks at Noon.
