STANFORD, Calif. – No. 3 Stanford flexed its offensive firepower in a 7-0 win over San Jose State on Sunday night at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
It marked the 300th career win on The Farm for the Knowles Family Director of Women's Soccer Paul Ratcliffe, who, in his 17th season at Stanford, has been named Pac-12 Coach of the Year an unprecedented nine times – no other coach has won the award more than twice.
"In all my years at Stanford, all the credit goes to the amazing student-athletes I've had the opportunity to coach," said Ratcliffe. "As for today, our composure, chemistry and finishing were improved, and it's great to see so many different players scoring goals and making an impact."
Catarina Macario scored two goals for the second straight game, also setting up a pair – Macario needed just 48 games to reach 100 career points, which ranks 10th in program history. Carly Malatskey netted twice, Maya Doms finished with two assists and Kattalin Stahl opened her collegiate account with one goal and one assist while Katie Meyer earned her first career shutout with one save. Abby Greubel added one goal and one assist, Madison Haley scored her second of the season, Sam Tran registered one assist and Paige Rubinstein added her first career assist.

Macario opened the scoring in the 13th minute when a bouncing ball fell to her at the top of the area. Without hesitation, Macario planted a left-footed shot in the top corner to make it 1-0. In the 31st minute, Greubel benefited from a smart buildup by Macario and Maya Doms, slotting home a low shot from close range to double the lead.
Malatskey headed home Sam Tran's inch-perfect cross in the 40th minute to give Stanford a three-goal lead entering the break. In the 54th minute, Haley won a free kick in the attacking third before heading home Macario's whipped cross into the box. Moments later, Malatskey doubled her haul when she pounced on a loose ball at the back before calmly sliding it past the keeper.
Macario made it three braces in four appearances in 2019 with her second of the game in the 61st minute with Stahl bagging her first career assist. In the 86th minute, it was Stahl's turn to find the back of the net, tapping in Rubinstein's cross from close range to make it 7-0.
