Falcons Grounded

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The No. 3 Stanford men's water polo team downed Air Force, 18-1, on Friday in a preliminary game in the SoCal Invitational hosted by UCLA.
 
The match was played at Loyola Marymount, one of two sites being used for the 16-team, three-day tournament.
 
Ben Hallock sparked the top-seeded Cardinal (7-1) with five goals and drew two of 13 ejections against the Falcons (7-5). Tyler Abramson added three goals, one assist, four steals and drew three ejections, as Stanford out-shot Air Force, 35-22.
 
Andrew Chun made 11 saves for the Cardinal.
 
Stanford advances to a second game in the winner's bracket on Saturday at 10:40 a.m. against No. 7 Long Beach State (10-3) at UCLA. The 49ers defeated UC Davis (5-5), 11-10.
 
The winner plays again at 5:20 p.m. at UCLA.
 
Bracket winners meet for the title on Sunday at 1 p.m. at UCLA.
