Card Hosts Bay Area All-Stars

STANFORD, Calif. - The Stanford men's volleyball team will host a pair of exhibition matches against Bay Area All-Stars on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 9:30 a.m. and Friday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

Saturday's action will take place in the Ford Center. Fans are encourage to bring their own chairs. Next Friday's match will be in Burnham Pavilion.

The Bay Area All-Star team is comprised of four former Cardinal players – Madison Hayden and Conrad Kaminski, both All-Americans in the class of 2016, are joined by Kevin Rakestraw and recent graduate Russell Dervay ('19).

Jason Agopian, a 2013 national champion with UC Irvine, is listed as a middle blocker/opposite for the all-stars. Josh Stewart (Pepperdine) is another setter, while All-MPSF libero Javier Caceres has ties to Pacific and UC San Diego's Fred Stahl is at middle. Hawaii alum Alex Jones (setter/outside hitter) is also on the roster along with Stanford women's volleyball volunteer assistant coach Russell Corbelli (Texas A&M). Additionally, the Big Ten Collegiate Club Player of the Year for Purdue, Kyle Schwede will play at opposite.

Stanford returns nine players from the 2019 roster, including a pair of AVCA All-America honorable mention selections – Paul Bischoff and Jaylen Jasper. Junior Kyler Presho, a second team All-MPSF pick, is also back for the Cardinal.

Jasper and Presho played for the U.S. Collegiate National Team over the summer, representing the Cardinal at the World University Games in Naples. Stanford redshirt freshman Justin Lui played on the Canadian Junior National Team over the summer, which completed at the U21 World Championships in Bahrain.

This November, the Stanford men's volleyball team has been focusing its efforts to raise money and awareness for mental health. Along with raising money, the team has been engaging in conversations that will hopefully lessen the stigma of mental health.

The Cardinal opens the 2020 season on Friday, Jan. 3 against Menlo College in Burnham Pavilion. Stanford will also host UC Santa Cruz during the opening weekend.
