STANFORD, Calif. – Top-seeded Stanford set a program and NCAA postseason record with 15 goals in its 15-0 win over Prairie View A&M on Friday night at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium.
Catarina Macario finished with four goals and five assists for a program-record 13 points, upping her season total for goals to 27, which is also a program record. Stanford's 15 goals were the most in program history by four and are the most in NCAA postseason history by five.
Sophia Smith also scored a hat trick with two assists, Bianca Caetano-Ferrara bagged a hat trick off the bench and Sam Tran netted twice while the Cardinal registered a season-high 12 assists. Defensively, Stanford did not allow a shot while registering 41 of its own, including 28 shots on goal.

The Cardinal (19-1-0) blitzed the Panthers (13-8-0) with eight goals in the first half. Macario got to work in the fifth minute, curling a right-footed shot into the right corner after the feed by Smith. Moments later in the 10th minute, Macario returned the favor and put it on a plate for Smith to finish from close range and make it 2-0.
Smith doubled her tally in the 16th minute, slamming home a rebound after Macario's shot was saved. Abby Greubel made it 4-0 in the 24th minute, heading home Macario's corner kick seconds after entering the game as a substitute.
In the 29th minute, Sam Tran headed home another Macario corner kick to make it 5-0 and Kiki Pickett's shot from outside the box in the 29th minute pushed the lead to six. Macario got her brace in the 32nd minute, scoring a fabulous solo goal after dribbling past multiple Panthers. Jojo Harber put home a loose ball in the box in the 38th minute, giving Stanford an 8-0 lead entering halftime.
In the 59th minute, Smith bagged her hat trick to make it 9-0. Caetano-Ferrara got on the scoresheet twice in quick succession, scoring goals in the 66th and 72nd minutes on either side of Macario's third goal in the 69th minute, making it 12-0. Sam Tran scored to make it 13-0 in the 75th minute, Macario netted her fourth in the 78th minute and Caetano-Ferrara secured the hat trick in the 83rd minute to make it 15-0.
Top-seeded Stanford will host the second and third rounds of the NCAA Tournament next week, starting Friday with a neutral-site game at 4 p.m. Stanford will take on the winner of Saturday's match between Hofstra and Loyola Chicago next Friday at 7 p.m. with the third-round match set for Sunday, Nov. 24.
This is Stanford's 22nd straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament and fourth straight season as the No. 1 overall seed. The Cardinal, which won the Pac-12 title outright for an unprecedented fifth straight season, has qualified for seven of the last 11 College Cups.
