Poppe Shines on Day Two

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Hank Poppe won the 100-meter breaststroke on Day 2 of the Art Adamson Invitational at the Rec Center Natatorium.

Stanford sits in fourth place with one day remaining in the meet. Stanford's 359 points trail Texas A&M (942), USC (448) and Hawaii (423) and sit ahead of Air Force (328) and Louisiana State (58).

Conor Casey scored the first points of the day for Stanford, placing third on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 356.90. Teammate Ethan Foster improved his preliminary score to finish seventh with 279.75.

Alex Liang (47.24) led Stanford in the 100-meter fly before four Cardinal placed in the A-final of the 200-meter freestyle. Will Macmillan (1:35.15) led the way in third place, followed by fourth-place Grant Shoults (1:35.37), fifth-place Johannes Calloni (1:36.82) and eighth-place Andrew Matejka (1:38.24).

Poppe (52.05) claimed Stanford's first win of the meet, winning the 100-meter breaststroke with teammate Jon Cook (55.16) in seventh. Alex Boratto (49.71) wrapped up the evening with a seventh-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke with Liang (44.18) placing 10th.
